AT Note:  We have purposely avoided stating our position on Climate Change/Global Warming because, when it comes to industrial wind – the focus of our blog, it just doesn’t matter.  Whether you believe man is the sole cause, a moderate contributor or if AGW is nonsense, it has no place in the discussion of industrial wind.  Industrial wind is an energy impostor, clinging to life by picking the pockets of taxpayers and legislative mandates requiring their use.

There is no evidence that one coal plant has been closed as a direct result of the tens of thousands of industrial wind turbines invading our environment.  The wind industry’s suggestion that when a wind turbine is spinning a fossil fueled plant somewhere on planet earth is not operating, is pure fantasy.  This silly suggestion is intended to have you believe there is, at least, some small environmental benefit to be derived from their product in order to persuade you to continue to place billions of your taxpayer dollars into their investors bank accounts.

The industrial wind lobby has, for years, hijacked the Climate Change/Global Warming debate to promote their product and financially benefit their membership, which is comprised of profit based businesses.  Yes, folks … in spite of all the hype – It’s all about making money!

AT makes an important point, global warming has no place in the discussion of Big Industrial Wind. Make industrial wind accountable and transparent.

Industrial wind developers use global warming as their social marketing tool. Developers are selling industrial wind projects as a silver bullet product. Their market ploy is they want you to perceive there is a need and their industrial wind product fills the need.

Recognize, industrial wind only offers intermittent energy because it is unreliable because wind is not predictable. Always remember there is no penalty for industrial wind developers that lie.

Since 1992, industrial wind has been shaking their tin cup for handouts from Congress. Today they are holding open their feed sacks, asking communities, state and federal agencies to fill their sacks with federal grants, production tax credits, renewable energy bonds, investment tax credits, accelerated appreciation subsidies.

The problem is not global warming, but accountability and transparency. Remove the tax goodies, hold the developers to the promises they make, and Big Industrial Wind disappears.

Make industrial wind accountable for their lack of energy produced, the destruction of wildlife, the loss of biological, ecological, cultural and historical landscapes, and the lack of concern for noise control Make industrial wind accountable for the loss of quality of life a community bears.

Speaking on accountability, its time the Public Service Commission of WV (PSC) demonstrate accountability, in the recent AES Laurel Mountain bird kill in October , 2011, when nearly 500 migrating birds were killed. http://www.psc.state.wv.us/WebDocket/default.htm

Remember for Big Industrial Wind its all about money. Keep pushing to make Industrial wind acocuntable and transparent. Here is an example of accountability: Three letters of protest filed by Heather Roberts Biola, Ph.D.; Shirley J Daniels and Barbara A Dean were submitted to the PSC of WV. Read here

If you remember, last October 2011, AES Laurel Mountain was the site of nearly 500 migrating birds killed because AES Laurel Mountain LLC failed to implement their promised bird management plan. Only when asked in a public setting did AES Laurel Mountain acknowledtge a problem existed.

Remember, make industrial wind accountable and transparent. AES Laurel Mountain, LLC is eligible to apply for US Treasury 1603 grant. They can receive $80 million dollars and some change. . Receiving some $80 million US Treasury Grant dollars should require a level of responsiblity.
